Maryam Mirzakhani was born on May 12, 1977, and died on July 14, 2017. She was an Iranian mathematician and professor at Stanford University. Mirzakhani won the Fields Medal in 2014 for his work on "Dynamics and Geometry of Riemannian Surfaces and Their Dimensional Spaces", the highest award in mathematics. She is the only woman and the first Iranian to win the Fields Medal.
